TIRFP is the first rail terminal to the west of the West Midlands conurbation. Its proximity to principal markets and transport networks ensures the rapid transport of goods, whilst avoiding some of the region's major congestion problems. TIRFP will complete a network of terminals in the West Midlands region and can provide a complimentary service to other local terminals such as Hams Hall and Daventry International Railfreight Park (DIRFT).
As with all aspects of the national railway network, users rights of access to the terminal will be protected by the Office of Rail Regulation. The site is promoted and managed by John G Russell (Transport) Ltd under contract to the Council. It is intended that the Terminal will be equally available to all rail operators and all potential users.
